A Message from Principal Green Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year at Skyline High School, home of the Mighty Titans!!! I welcome back the sophomores, juniors and seniors and parents. I look forward to a continued relationship. I welcome the class of 2011, our new freshman and their families. I look forward to developing a relationship with each and every freshman and their families. It is an exciting time for you.
Planning for the school year began weeks before the first day of school. Administrators, teachers and
parents worked together to ensure that Registration was a smooth process for everyone that was in attendance.
The end result was FANTASTIC!!!!The Freshman Orientation and Barbecue was a first for Skyline. We welcomed over half of our incoming freshman and their families to the bleachers on the football field, and had conversations about what to expect as a freshman. It was a great time that culminated with barbecue and all the “fixins.” This too, was FANTASTIC!!! I want to THANK all of the parent volunteers who gave of their time and energy each day during Registration. We could not have registered our students without you. And a special THANK YOU to the PTSA for donating the entire Freshman Barbecue. They made the vision come true. There is NO WAY it could have happened without you. Michele LeProhn, PTSA President, you make things happen!!! Thank you for your support. And last but certainly not least, I would like to thank the ladies of the Family Resource Center – Kate, Cristina and Eva. They took the ball and ran with it during the summer and during the actual Registration and made the vision come true. Thank you ladies. Skyline is blessed to have you, and I am most appreciative of the support you provide to me personally. For the 2007-2008 school year, we have 2 goals and a motto that we as a staff fully support & expect: ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND SUCCESS FOR ALL SKYLINE STUDENTS. I hope that you will share in our vision. Our goals are • Increased aptitude in all areas of Math which will be translated into increased scores of proficiency on the California Standards Tests (CST) as well as the District Benchmark Assessment • Increased numbers of students meeting the A-G requirements and college ready, which will be translated into more students gaining acceptance into colleges and universities across the country As a faculty, we are committed to ensuring that every student meets each one of these goals, and we ask that parents do all that they can to assist us in meeting these goals. I want to say THANK YOU to the students and parents for the patience that has been shown during the first 3 weeks of school. We have experienced problems with our master schedule and our computer system which resulted in class scheduling nightmares, and overcrowded classrooms. The administrators and counselors have been working day and night to rectify the problems. But through it all, our teachers and students have worked hard to give and receive a rigorous, well rounded education. Again, thank you for your patience and support as we work through these difficulties. Lastly, I want to welcome all of our new teachers and faculty members. We had a few teachers retire and others moved away. We’ve added new talent to our roster of highly talented teachers and faculty. We’ve also added new talent to the administrative team. Please welcome Lorna Shelton, Assistant Principal. Her office is located in the counseling wing. New Teachers: Math -Christopher Williams, Brian Lukoff; Science - Bea Whetmore, Shelly McHugh, Desmond Watt, Dale Fiess; English - Lynda Thompson, Christopher Scheer; Social Science - Carla Williams-Namboodri, Cathleen Prudek, Ron Periera, Jeffrey Durston; World Languages Patricia Jara, Wei Wan, Brandon Johnson; PE - Margaret Baker; Special Ed - Ruben Albo, Jaclyn Chao, Kari Parks; Teacher on Special Assignment – Richard Miller (returning from Sabbatical); Attendance Office – Rose Graham, Liuba Bolanos.
